Dating from the early 1800s this extremely fine woven striped silk shawl, in pale blues with a lilac purple stripe. Possibly woven in India and exported to Europe where it would have been an ideal accompaniment to the embroidered white tulle dresses popular at this time. A beautiful example, museum quality.
