Well thematically this is up reds alley, though I could also see it doing damage to the creature, actually in my opinion what would've been really neat is a spell that does like 2 damage to the creature then gives it +3/+5 to "make up for" it but also to use it as a back up shock

You could also throw partner it up with a red Background enchantment and play Rakdos (red/black) sacrifice strategies, such as stealing an opponent's big creature with an Act of Treason or Besmirch before sacrificing it to Shadowheart
