Advertisement There is no single way to play Magic. Instead, there are a bunch of different games, called formats, all with their legal cards, banned cards, and restrictions
The thing that is turning me off Magic isnt Universes Beyond, its the fact that half the damn cards have Japanese art versions for no reason and often the tonal difference between the sets art style and the Manga art cards takes me out of it. TheChowderhead, via Twitter This is an issue of identity, similar to the tonal dissonance some players experience when mixing MTG cards with Universes Beyond ones
Id stick with a tight mana curve of value creatures, perhaps going with evasion like shadow and swampwalk (since you know someone is playing Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth)
Fruitcake Elemental is indestructible, which appears to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to how fruitcake tends to dry up and become hard, and the card's flavor text appears to confirm that the cake is indeed dry
If Path isnt in this set, Ill feel good about buying some copies
