Description

the design of this toile is classically inspired and is heavily influenced by Greek and Roman architecture and interiors which became all the rage during the late 18th and 19th centuries Grand Tour

The panel is time worn and there are losses in areas of the silk embroidery

The blue and green version of this print were originally commissioned and used as curtains in the newly designed Shakespeare Centre on Henley Street

Dated 1828 but made using much earlier embroidered figures taken and re-applied from an 16th century panel

Hand Crocheted Patchwork Throw, Blanket, Shawl : C20th Britain 1930s folk embroidered the design of this toileItem Details: We couldnt resist buying this hand crocheted patchwork throw, blanket (or whatever you want it to be ) because of the beautiful soft colours which have been carefully and beautifully placed. Made from a mixture of silky art silk yarn, cotton and wool, it has a wonderful tactile quality and drapes beautifully when thrown around the shoulders or over a piece of furniture. We think this dates from the 1970s the colours really evoke this
