By adding the Tribal type, it allowed Wizards to do an end run around their rules without having to rewrite their rules (I can only imagine what weird edge cases would crop up if any card type were allowed to have creature subtypes)

It took me a while to realize that I had added in my head that player searches their library for a basic land and puts it into play tapped

Their FAQ page states that foiling is available by request, and they plan on rolling out foiling as part of the basic ordering process, but its not available by default yet
