Rare Antique Block Printed Panel with Trees & Foliage Traditionally Worn as Dress Front: early C19th Marken, Holland chateau lace panel and ears of wheatItem Details. A wonderful small size panel of Dutch block printed and hand painted glazed chintz dating from the early 19th century. With an interesting pattern, unlike any we have seen before, with tree roots (which suggest coral) worked in madder reds and pinks, indigo blue, block printed onto an off white fine linen ground. This is an excellent and unique example of a Dutch chintz of this type, and is clearly influenced by earlier Indian chintzes.
